New FVG 3 signs in Tarcento

A new section of the Pedemontana cycle path (FVG 3) has been completed in Tarcento

During the past winter, a new section of the Pedemontana cycle path (FVG 3) was opened to the cyclists in the municipality of Tarcento

A project to complete the Tagliamento river bike route

Good news about the FVG 6 cycle path (Tagliamento river bike route). A few days ago, the mayor of Forni di Sopra, Claudio Coradazzi, announced that one million and 200 thousand euros will be invested to start building the cycling route that will run in the upper Tagliamento valley, connecting Forni di Sopra to Villa Santina (where the wonderful Carnia Cycle Route is already operational but continues in Val Degano up to Ovaro).

Discovering the peninsula of Lignano Sabbiadoro by bicycle

In recent years, the renowned seaside resort of Lignano Sabbiadoro has equipped itself with a good network of cycle paths.

The tour of the Lignano peninsula is one of our favorite routes: it is suitable for everyone and runs mainly on cycle paths (if you go anticlockwise).

The official sites of the Ciclovia confuse cyclists

Yesterday morning a guy from Modena called me. He is about to leave for Tarvisio to travel the Italian part of the Alpe Adria cycle path but he is rather perplexed. On the official websites of our favorite route he found the news that the cycle path ends in Dogna.

New bicycle wagons to cross the Tauern tunnel

Thanks a lot to Ingmari and Hemann Schneeberger who sent us the pictures of the new carriages running the shuttle service between the stations of Böckstein (Salzburg) and Bad Gastein (Carinthia).

As certainly our most loyal readers already know, there is no other solution than to use the train to cross the Hohe Tauern mountain range. A short ride of about ten minutes that allows cyclists to reach the opposite side of the mountain thanks to the Tauern tunnel (Autoschleuse Tauernbahn).

The new “Regio Biking” carriages allow you to load a greater number of bicycles than the previous double-decker “City Shuttles”. I can't wait to go back to cycling in Austria ... and to test these new carriages dedicated to transporting bicycles!

Thanks again to the Schneeberger family for reporting. Ingmari and Hemann also work on our Alpe Adria Cycle Route organizing the logistics for the travel of cyclists thanks to their minibuses equipped with bike carriers. If you need a transfer from Grado to Salzburg (or vice versa) I leave you their contact details:
